CGBB and Savin Hill Little League Meet to Discuss Futures
CGBB and SHLLUpdated Wednesday September 20, 2017 by Cedar Grove Baseball.
CGBB and SHLL have expressed interest to each other about engaging in discussions to get to know each other better in order to explore how the 2 leagues might work together in the future. Both leagues are looking to the future and not to the past.
This spring, CGBB and Savin Hill began playing each other in spring games at the 13-16 year-old level.
This Fall, SHLL invited CGBB to participate in joint teams in Fall Leagues at 3 levels - Minors, Majors, and Seniors.
Meeting #1: 06.20.17 - Great meeeting with sincere interest expressed on both sides as to how the leagues can work together. All agreed that the most important objective was how to create the best opportunities for the young people of Dorchester to play baseball and learn to love the game.
Meeting #2: 08.23.17 - Another productive meeting exploring options for league affiliation (Ripken/Little League) as well as potential organizational structure including leadership and potential Board structure and composition.
Meeting #3: CGBB Board Meeting 09.06.17 -
The Board agreed that the back and forth of a committee approach reporting back to the full CGBB Board will create unnecessary delays (and is not the current recipe for success) and no one really has the bandwidth for multiple meetings. So, there was a unanimous vote to invite the SHLL Board, plus anyone else to represent the interests of SHLL, to attend a meeting on 09/20/17 from 7-9 PM. At this meeting, the discussion would focus around each other around the 3 major points (Affiliation, Board Composition, and Organizational structure) and then move to a long list of items around how the new league would operate.
